Central Indiana Outreach Manager Kevin Enders led the session, which was broken down into several segments: population, education, poverty, child care, mental health, violent relationships and child maltreatment.In Whitley County, the population of children has been following the statewide trend of decreasing.Combined, this means fewer Whitley County children are living in poverty than the state average.The Indiana Youth Institute presented this information during a May 30 discussion about its annual report on the state of children in Indiana, and specifically within Whitley County.
CR 200 SOUTH TO CLOSE MAY 31 THROUGH JULY Beginning Wednesday, May 31, CR 200 South, just south of Columbia City, will experience a road closure.
According to the Indiana Department of Transportation, Ind. 205 is between CR 400 West (3 miles north of South Whitley) and CR 200 South (1 mile south of Columbia City).
205 will be closed between Columbia City and South Whitley starting Monday and continuing throughout the month of June. The closure is necessary for “a small structure replacement over Wolf Drain,” according to INDOT highway officials.
